Town Became a Unicorn in Four Months. The Hard Part Is Shared Company Memory

Town raised $108 million so each employee can have an assistant that talks to the others. The design problem is what those assistants are allowed to share.

On 19 October 2026, TechCrunch reported that Town, a San Francisco company building an AI assistant for each employee, raised a $108 million Series B and reached a unicorn valuation four months after its public launch. The product detail that matters more than the round is how those assistants share information.

What Town said it does

Forerunner Ventures and Menlo Ventures co-led. Andreessen Horowitz, Serena Ventures, and First Round Capital also joined. Town has raised at least $160 million, including a $55 million Series A in June. Founder Jean-Denis Greze was previously CTO at Plaid. Each employee gets an assistant, called a Townie, wired to email, calendar, and other work systems. Townies can talk to each other, share approved information, and work with people outside the company. With the round, Town announced a shared workflow that pushes new business information to those assistants, so each person does not update their own. The company said it reached millions of dollars in annual recurring revenue within weeks of launch. Copy the shared memory. Write the allow-list first

  • One approved pack of facts beats twenty assistants with twenty versions of the price list.
  • Share by role. Sales may see a deal. Payroll may not. “The assistants talk to each other” needs a filter.
  • Outside parties are a different trust level. An assistant emailing a customer is a brand action, not an internal note.
  • ARR in weeks is their metric. Yours is whether the assistant’s answer matches the CRM today.

You do not need a new unicorn to get this shape. A shared knowledge base, a CRM connection, and a permission list are the work in connecting an agent to a CRM. Give every employee a private chatbot only after that shared layer exists.

FAQ

Should every staff member get their own agent?

Give people a window onto the same approved information. Separate agents that learn in private will disagree with each other by Friday.

Is a unicorn valuation proof the category works?

It proves investors funded the category. Your proof is a week of answers checked against your own data, with a log of what was shared. This is not investment advice.

Start with the shared facts

Contact Altron Technologies and we will map which documents and CRM fields an assistant may use, and which stay closed.

Let’s build what’s next

One source of truth, then the assistants

Altron Technologies connects an agent to the CRM and the documents you approve, so staff do not each train a private copy of the company.
